Job Information and Requirements

The North Bethany Beach Patrol requires its lifeguards to be team-oriented men and women capable of handling a variety of situations in adverse conditions with competence and professionalism. Lifeguards are required to submit proof of current certifications in Lifeguarding, Medical Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, plus meet rigorous physical fitness standards.

Job Description and Compensation
Seasonal Full and Part Time positions available. NBBP offers excellent pay, flexible work schedules, uniforms at no cost, end of season lifeguard agency awards, and opportunities to compete in local, regional, and national competitions.

Starting wage for new recruits is $17/hr for 2024.

Position Summary: The Ocean Lifeguard will provide for the safety and well-being of all beach patrons.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Keep the patrons safe on the beach and in the ocean.

  • Take preventative measures

  • Respond and provide care as necessary 

  • Scan the ocean and beach all shift

  • Have full awareness of the patrons on their beach

  • Attend daily training at 8:30am for all employees working that day

  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness and health

  • Be punctual for all workdays and scheduled events

  • Respect the equipment of NBBP

  • Report any damaged equipment

  • Report any incidents that occured each day

  • Respect the chain of command

  • Treat coworkers with respect

  • Learn semaphore

  • Advise patrons of HOA’s rules and regulations

  • Respect the HOA’s patrons and facilities
